Come on! Resident Evil should get it together another game on rails! If I wanted another Umbrella Chronicles I would have just played that game. I expected more but…. You can please everyone.

I played the original re2. No doubt, the graphics, voice actors are good. But making it a light gun rail shooters just plain runs the gameplay. You can't explore hardly at all. The story has leon and claire together which totalty makes sense. But do to that fact, capcom had to combine Leon A.B and Claire A.B, which makes events that never happened in the original. Some of the music is actually worse. For example, they left out the 2nd malformation of G and ruined the 3rd malformation of G. Whoever is the chorus singer/opera singer does not real go with the music. They used the makers of death note music and should of used the makers of re5 music! Why couldn't they just REMAKE re2 and 3 with updated graphics and make it something where you are able to explore besides a light gun game. There is no puzzles but I hardly noticed that. I can just watch the walk through on youtube (including the new Javier section). Overall, I recommend this game to someone who hasn't played re2 and code veronica. But if you played the originals don't bother with these games just watch them on youtube. They update the graphics but downgrade the game play.

The sequel to the Umbrella Chronicles plays much like the first game; you go through twenty levels of rail shooting fun, with guns that you can upgrade for better performance. But there are a few differences in the Darkside Chronicles.
First off, you have more freedom to swap between weapons during a level. Every weapon you get your shooter on is available to use, but you may have to swap weapons on a pause menu.
Second off, health items can be saved for use later on. This makes a huge difference, giving the player the opportunity for optimal use of the green herb. This is a feature I’d like to see in future rail shooters.
But there are problems with the game. The camera jerks about far too much; I think the operator is scared of what’s going on, but is too manly to admit it. Darn it, keep that camera stable!
The dialogue gets really old really fast. How many times do I have to hear one of the characters say “It’s too quiet” Many times, the character doesn’t finish his/her sentence. It’s very annoying.
Some of the problems that rail shooters have aren’t taken on either; Dodging is not an option is here, finding some items (namely the Darkside files.) is tough, and those who hate the lack of camera control will hate this game.
And this game doesn’t really raise the level of action that the first game gave us; it just gives us more of the same.
Still, Resident Evil fans (and fans of the Umbrella Chronicles) will find a lot to like about Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles. I say rent it and give it a try, then decide for yourself if you want to buy it.
