I want to start by saying that when i rented this game, i was expect the worst game on the face of the Earth, by some of the reviews i had read. I think that was a good thing, because i didn't think the game was that bad. There are definitely things about this game that could be better, like the AI, but it isn't a bad game.
This game is Umbrellas perspective on the Raccoon City outbreak. There are 6 characters that you can choose from. Each character has a different set of skills that will help your squad complete the mission. There is Lupo, the Soldier, who's skills enhance how effective her guns/she is. There is Vector, Recon, who's skill keep him hidden and deceive enemies. There is Beltway, Demolition, who's skills involve explosives. There is Spectre, Surveillance, who's skills involve detecting threats. There is Bertha, Field Medic, who's skills involve healing or enhancing the teams abilities. Finally there is Four Eyes, the Field Scientist, who's abilities involve controlling zombies and infecting the enemy.
Now for the campaign. The campaign consists of 7 missions, following the USS squad and there attempts to remove evidence of Umbrellas involvement in the outbreak. The campaign only lasts about 6 hours, but I immediately wanted to play through again. There is also another 7 missions you can buy as DLC for $20, that follows a squad of Spec Ops who are there to rescue survivors and find out what happened.
Now to address some of the issues with the game. The AI can stink sometimes. They will just walk into mines, or try and melee 5 spec ops soldiers. They can be good sometimes too, like Bertha will heal you if you are low on health, if she can. The multiplayer can also be frustrating, because the game is kinda old, and it did get bad reviews, so there aren't a lot of new people, so most players are level 98-99. A lot of peoples complaint with this game is that it isn't like other RE games, and i think that is kind of a good thing. Give it a try.
