Not sure why there is so many negative reviews with comments such as "Drifted from the original gameplay" or "Supposed to be suspenseful thriller". RE has been on this same path since Resident Evil 4, so Im confused as to why the more action packed, well controlled gameplay is such a surprise/dissapointment.
Ive always loved RE, no matter how the gameplay evolves.. I enjoyed the game from 1-6, throw in a couple side games such as Code Veronica as well. To me at least, the main characteristic of the series is the story. Everyone loves a zombie flick/game and with RE being the most well thought out and intricate story line of them all, of course I'm gonna keep going back.
It may not be the roots of the series, but man was this an entertaining game. Also, the section in every campaign where you have to find the 3 keys in the maze, with that freaky awkwardly walking monster that cant be killed is coming at you, I have to admit I HATE that part, its pretty freaky. So there's a little "suspense" for ya.
I kind of enjoyed the evolution of the zombies, they havn't been a part of the series since the change in the controls and gameplay (RE4) so they obviously had to make them a little bit more threatening. It would be like shooting fish in a barrel if they kept them the slow shambling corpses from the first 3.
Its still not perfect so Ill give it an 8, but they put their time into this. The replay value, unlockables, and the unlimited ammo/fun modes definitely would make it worth while.
