What is this the 1980s?

This is the first time in a decade of playing video games that I actually hated a game. There have been other games that I just didn't enjoy, but never have I so vehemently hated a game. After everything I heard about this game and after all of the movies(which I loved) I sat down to play this excited to get a taste of zombie killing from the title that started it all. First thing I noted. You can't move and do anything else at the same time. That means you can't move and shoot/knife/punch/kick or anything else. You literally just stand there whenever you want to shoot someone and wait for the inevitable zombie to walk up on you and grab you by the throat. If you want to use your knife you have to purposefully pull it out and stand there for a moment and then you can swing it awkwardly at an oncoming enemy who will likely be in a completely different place by the time your swing actually happens. In a final attempt to enjoy this game I set my sights on unarmed melee. Only then did I realize that the game has to decide for you when you are going to be able to punch someone and as always you can't move while you are doing that action. Sometimes the prompt would be displayed to uppercut a zombie and later it wouldn't be. You couldn't just kill anyone with a melee button, you had to wait for the game to display the prompt to have the option. I really felt like I was playing a 1980s game engine with new graphics. Zombie killing is supposed to be about fast-paced action, mass slaughter and survival. This was anything but those things. You can't move and shoot? What kind of a joke is that?
