I have never played any red faction before. This was my first red faction game I've played of the series and it was cool.
I like the environments, original guns, hi-res textures and the free roam aspect. They should almost just call it... GTA:Mars
BUT the coolest thing is the DESTRUCTIBLE ENVIRONMENTS. I LOVED DESTROYING THINGS in this game.
BUT, the worst thing about the debris that gets scattered on the ground is that some of the smallest things will get in your characters way and you will just stop abruptly and stupidly in the same space, because you are not able to pick your foot up 3-6 inches off the ground to step over a light pole, or a piece of wall, or a rock with a gnarly 90 degree angle on it. So you have no other choice but to run sideways or jump.
Keep in mind that the enemies respawn randomly around you. this one time i got into an enemy base unnoticed, i killed one person with the sledge, still green alert status. I bust out my satchel charge, I HAVE NOT USED OR THROWN THEM, its just IN MY HAND, and EDF(enemy) comes behind me LIKE he had been there the WHOLE TIME(which he had not been)and i'm automatically at yellow status and like 3 turrets are shooting at me, along with about 5 EDF ground troops, and 2 cars with machine gun turrets. NOT FUN
I dont mind challenges at all. I bought ninja gaiden BLack and sigma and those are hard, but this game is ridiculous.
Its not the difficulty, but its more the programming, it designed so that you almost always fail.
To test my troubles with the debris, i was at a safehouse and was able to run, walk, and crouch over a metal plate which stuck off the ground at least as high as the players shin. NO problem at all walking over it frontwards, backwards, sideways, crouch walking. not a problem.
BUT once i break a building or light pole and debri is scattered on the ground that is no taller than the rubber sole on the players foot, i get stuck, cant walk or run over it...
WTFF? somethings wrong here...
