I played the last Red Faction for about 20 minutes. Lousy graphics, controls were jerky and just plain boring.
I took a chance on RFA thinking it might actually be an improvement. I checked the reviews and the videos and screenshots and since Duke Nukem wasn't out yet I figured what the heck.
RFA graphics were much better, the movement was smoother and it overall looked better. I played the game for about two hours total and it was becoming predictable and boring. Go down a tunnel to retrieve or fix something fight masses of bugs and return. Cut scene. Go down stairs to fix or retrieve something fight masses of bugs and return. Cut scene. Ad nauseum.
I rated this game a 5 and I believe I am being generous. I guess if you are not looking for any real challenge or goal oriented story then this game is for you. It was just too darned predictable. Thank goodness it was a rental and I did not purchase it.
I have been waiting for the game ever since the game have been shipped to me on Monday. It is Friday when I wrote this. I have seen my friend play the game and I thought it was amazing but he said that some levels of the game were pretty hard to beat. But, it still looked fun overall. All the guns it had was great. The Singularity gun seemed to catch my attention since it shoots Black Holes. The creators of this game bright Red Faction to a whole new level.

The single player campaign is full of awesome destruction, unique weapons and hoards of aliens to kill. The game's magnet gun is worth the rental alone. Unlike the last Red Faction game this game is not a sandbox game. But the linear path the game takes allows for a better story and more water cooler moments. The single player game will last take 10 to 12 hours to complete. Unfortunatly the only other game play mode that you can play ( unless you buy a new copy or pay for activation code over xbox live ) is Extinction which is pretty much the same as Gears of War Hoard mode.
