I like the general gameplay, for an fps game, that follows a strict storyline, and I also like how you can upgrade your character. However, I was not looking for a strict storyline FPS, I was looking for freeroam, which is gone, and, I hate that, I believe, they ruined a good part about the Red Faction game, they've destroyed the free roam and that bassicly ruins it for me

Ok,first off,I've never played RF:G so I cant compare the two. With that said,I have to say I enjoyed this game.Yes,it does get repetitive,I mean you can only kill so many of the same aliens over and over again before it starts to eventually get stale. But with a pretty sweet list of guns, and lots of things to destroy,it stays rather fun.I particularly loved the Magnet Gun.You also have some pretty sweet, and powerful powers at your disposal such as an Impact blast that knocks enemies back and a Shield bubble that blocks incoming projectiles while damaging enemies that enter the bubble. And there is no need to worry about destroying everything in sight, you have the ability to repair anything with just the touch of a button. The campaign was rather short, which I kind of expected clocking in at right around 8 hours, but with the ability to start a New Game+,while being able to buy certain cheats and new weapons with in game currency,it adds a little replay value..Not much in the way of multi-player except Infestation mode which lets you team with up to 4 players to defeat waves of enemies. Also included via a code is Ruin mode, which lets you enter 1 of 4 or 5 maps and tells you to go crazy and destroy as much as possible within a certain time limit or free-play.Graphics in game are pretty good, though framerates tend to chug a little when poo really hits the fan. Also worth mentioning is upon completion of the game, you get a "special" weapon that you can take through the campaign, which I found to be one the of the funniest things in a video game.So to summarize,if you want a good game to kill a weekend with along with a few thousand bugs, give it a shot.
This game has really let alot of fans of red faction down big time. First of all going underground for 95% of the game is never a good idea when your big draw is massive destruction in a wide area. Second the story is alot worst than Guerilla was by far.. the story made little sense and had no backstory on the main villian.. it felt like a joke. Third the new weapons were perfect for outdoors and not indoors in a cave for crying out loud whoever was reponsible for the design and story needs to be canned.
