The most impressive thing about this game is the beautiful sceneries with an impressive weather system and the attention to detail with the sound effects. The voice acting isn't too bad either, but pales in comparison to the aforementioned in many ways. The story is some what engaging but feels like it really isn't much of a story and merely there to drive the progress of needing to get to the different areas to eventually complete the game.
What I found truly terrible about this game was the controls. Even just doing something as mundane as walking, or attempting to run by repeatedly tapping A, is sluggish and awkward most times. When it really becomes noticeable is when you are engaging in combat and are needing to move from one place to the next quickly so you don't get shot, or when you are evading an enemy or raging animal that is about to kill you. I don't recall any of the GTA titles having this problem. Changing direction in place poses its own issues as well where your character has to do a "U-turn" in place just to go the opposite direction that you are currently facing. This caused me to fall of more than a few cliffs. The combat system is very mediocre as well with a tiny white dot given to use as a means to aim. A lot of times I found it difficult to even see the dot and ended up firing nowhere near close to any enemy.
There are a number of side quests as well to be enjoyed and a good number of them are in fact enjoyable with the few exceptions. Mainly the mini quests where there is a person in need of help on the side of the road and you end up having to get their wagon back or something of that nature. The most irritating one is the woman posing as a damsel in distress and the second you stop you are gunned down by a hand full of bandits that come out of nowhere. You literally have no time to do anything and are dead in seconds. Pretty weak!Overall an ok game with little replay value imo. Best thing is just staring at the night sky on a clear nigh
