If you use the tutorial, this game isn't too hard to figure out. As far as difficulty goes, I'd say it comes between the first puzzle quest and the second. You don't gain experience points when you loose a battle, but you do gain gold(which you can give up half of to continue with a revived hero). You also have to employ more soldiers before you can try again. If you give this game a chance, I think you'd like it. Especially if you liked puzzlequest, challenge of the warlords.
... then the only thing I believe that needs to be said is that even the puzzle itself is WORSE.
Terrible. Shame on them for releasing this game and calling it a sequel. If you must play more Puzzle Quest, play their "unofficial" sequel Galactrix. That one was inferior to the first as well (as can be seen by most reviews), but at least the puzzle part of it was something new.
I would never think of giving a game anything below a 4 unless it truly was a misleading, horrible game. This game is one of those.
I got this game because I had seen the PC one and wanted to play it. Without the book, many symbols didn't make sense. I abandoned the campaign and played the individual ones. I think I would have played it more and liked it more if I had the manual.
