Chris Gardner lived the great American success story. In the early 1980s, Gardner, struggling to make ends meet with his wife and young son, decided to give up his sales job for a shot at a once-in-a-lifetime internship with a brokerage firm. Pursuit of Happyness is Gardner's story, with Will Smith starring. Gardner's longshot grab for the internship puts an incredible strain on his family. He loses his wife and nearly loses everything else as he tries to keep his own head (and his son's) above water. The two overcome setback after setback, including tax problems, debt, and homelessness as Gardner holds tight to his pursuit, eventually becoming a self-made millionaire.
