Prinny: Can I Really Be the Hero? for PSP Reviews by Gamers

I rented this game looking forward to anothe rRPG made by the Disaea team. I love their games and they are always very humorous and fun. in a evil way of course! LOL

Anyway, to the game, it was platform based. So i thought, oh this should be fun, its like mario with a sword.

i was wrong. so to my basic 5 things i base my review on.

Story- 9
it was very nicely doen, just liek the disaea games, the funny evil humor is still there. This time, your a prinny, those exploding penguins.

Gameplay- 4
i was fun at first. but then it gets VERY repetitive. i was too bored. The game got much more annoying, and frustrating. you cannot control where u land unless you butt-slam. it was awful, i always end up jumping off because i cannot control where i LAND.

controls- 2
Thie biggest issue. it is HORRIBLE. i could not put up with the jumping and fighting issues. it was wonderful he can attack. but....
When u jump and attacked, and if you dont destroy the monster, your screwed. You would fall right on top of him and die. i never been this frustrated with controls before.
They give you 999 lives though. which is kinda funny.

graphics- 10
Beautiful and simple. Just like disaea, great job. beautiful landscape and 2D background art are just so nice to view.

fun factor- 3
it was fun, at first. and i was so sick of it after the third level. There were even monsters you CANNOT kill. when it came to that stage. i was done. it was too stupid, and there is no power ups or special items to pick up. super mario is more fun then that. and im talking about the original super mario, at least u have a long distance weapon, fireballs. i mailed it back, i did NOT want to see it again.

Do NOT rent this game if you want to play RPG.
Do NOT rent this game if you want a SIMPLE platform game.

I'll start this review by disclaiming that I have never played Disgaea. To me this was just a cute game with penguins who say "dood."

The art in this game really is beautiful and the story is pretty entertaining. The gameplay is actually pretty enjoyable as well, but the game is very difficult. A gamer who enjoys platformers would probably enjoy that aspect of the game but I found it very frustrating.

I played the game 'til about 3/4 completion before I couldn't get any further and gave up.

I would definitely recommend renting this game but depending on your tolerance for a frustratingly difficulty you may not be able to play it for long. A hardcore gamer or a Disgaea fan may consider buying it but definitely not a casual gamer with no prior Disgaea exposure like myself.
