If your a fan of Disgaea then you already know what a Prinny is and how awesome they are. To have a game based as playing as one in a platforming button masher is pretty amazing.

Storys pretty cheesy, but it is to be expected really.

Sounds decent. More of Tenpai Sato's work.

Length is dependant on how many 100 times you die, and you most certainly will. (you have 1000 lives) I ended up around 8 hours just on the main story, but there is a bonus story and of course other bonus stages and some DLC stages.

Gameplay is pretty simple. Double jump, stomp, dash, regular slash, air slash. Thats pretty much it.
The jumping mechanics are kinda of annoying in that your jumps do a set arch and it can suck for platforming. To stomp short you need to use the stomp and its a little slow so you have to time boss stomps and moving platforms.
The slashing is pretty fun tho because each slash you have to actually press and it can give you a rush mashing the button ferociously. However, the final boss requires constant mashing and really fast or else you wont be able to beat it in time and your arm will feel it once you finally beat it. (took me 85 mins and 112 lives)
Whenever you defeat a boss you get a nice flash freeze frame slash thats pretty satisfying to see after all your effort put in to getting that final hit.

Pricing is pretty high for this game. 40 bux retail and 4 dollars for each bonus stage through DLC. The game is solid for a prinny fan, but that's askin a little too much. I will say that this is defineately a rent and was a worthy first game rental from gamefly for me.

Overall this game was a prinny decent psp game and better than I expected. Difficult, but it works that way. If it was a little cheaper then I might consider buying it, but it is totally rental worthy dood.

Siren's call

If Odysseus were to venture forth on his odyssey today (and if he was a gamer :P ) then "Prinny: Can I Really Be the Hero" would be the modern equivalent of his Siren's. Prinny's song (its beauty and charm) will pull you in and then it will utterly destroy you, tossing your carcass aside with a disdainful laugh.

Prinny is a beautiful 2D platformer with crisp visuals and effects, yet another game that makes you wish there were more developers willing to release titles for the underrated PSP. The storyline is passable for what it is and the game has some pleasant humor. However.... Prinny is not to be trifled with, this is a hardcore gamers game. The difficulty ramps up steeply and is fairly uncompromising.

Only those possessing superior skills and fast reflexes need apply here. Casual gamers should look elsewhere. If not for the excessive difficulty this game would score much higher and sell many more copies as well, I'm sure.

i plain and simply rented this game to see if it really was that hard and it really is. The reason its SOOOO hard is because of its level design and issues with the 2D gameplay like having to time jumps kill enemies again after you just died falling into a pit because you just got hit and got forced back. the game is pretty funny because it doesnt take its self serious n it better for it. if u like a challange just rent Prinny just dont break or curse at Your psp, its not its fault.
