A shame that they chose to start the series on PSP with the second game and not the first one. It just would seem to make more sense. Oh well.
What you have here, however, is still one of the best platforming adventures you can find. PoP is all about the quest: figure out how to get from point A to point B. And PoP is one of the best.
Graphically, the game is good although the screen is a little too dark. And, because of the widescreen affect, camera placement is a little off sometime. Although the camera is somewhat controllable, it still frustrating trying to find a good view so you won't kill yourself.
Gameplay, the most important aspect of any game, is solid. Although, unlike the first one, PoP relies too heavily on too much combat. I never felt the need to revamp the combat, but it's here and it's frequent. Luckily the rest of the controls are spot on. Characters move and respond very well.
Like so many other PSP games, the game suffers from a frustrating lack of "pick up play." Load time is frustratingly long, and your spots in between proper saves is too long, forcing you to play longer sessions than you might want to.
Overall, if you are a fan of the series, I recommend it. If you've played the home console versions, don't expect much changes (although the added levels are a nice bonus, you really are just getting the exact same game.) If you love the game and you want to play it on the go, pick it up. If you've never played the series before, play the first one. If you're looking for solid adventure, enjoy it. If you're not a fan of the series, this game won't change your mind.
