IGN Preview of Prey the Stars
This fall Koei will present a Katamari Damacy-style action game called Prey the Stars. Players maneuver an animal around a 3D game board chomping various food items and household objects. As you eat, your size will increase and you'll be able to devour larger items.
There is a single-player story mode, but it's pretty light on the story. Players are thrust directly into level one without much explanation. Four characters are available, each with slightly different attributes. Gabu is your all-around eater. Bari is a "power biter." Chu Chu is a vacuum, and Pero is the "lick machine." Level one is called Food Festival, and it's where players learn to eat and move. Players are always competing against three other animals to eat the most and grow the largest.
You won't just be devouring food. Level two lays out delicious televisions, boom boxes, and radios. Eating some items involves a rhythm mini-game where players chomp in time with a meter. Bite while the meter is in the green and you'll receive a bonus. There are also specific challenges in each level, such as "win the game without eating a certain item."
There are many different skins to be unlocked for personalizing your chomper, like a strawberry, a soccer ball, a wrapped gift, a skeleton, or a police car. Look for Prey the Stars in October.
