If, like me, you are one of the few that just don't like / aren't good at typical First Person Shooters (FPS) games, then don't make the mistake I almost did, and discard this game as an option.
Although it is in first person, and you do have a (portal) gun, this is in reality a puzzle game, and one of the highest caliber. Starting off easy, but within an hour or so of playtime, throwing in some real head scratchers, the task at hand (in as spoiler free a way as possible) is how to use the limited resources available to open doors to the next area. It makes for a really good game to pick up, play a couple of rooms, and go about your day (if you can fight the addictive nature of the game!).
The back story and plot development is very clever, and funny. It does follow from the first game, but I don't think there's any need to have played it to understand what is going on (I haven't, though it is now at the top of my queue to revisit).
In the interest of balance, the only real complaint I would have is the loading (and reloading) that occurs. If you die in a room, it has to reload the level as it restarts. It's never too long, never more than 10-20 seconds, but just long enough to start to grate if you get to a room where death becomes frequent.
I've not finished it at the time of writing, but some have mentioned that the game is too short. I'm a believer in quality over quantity. Too many games are overlong, and as a result you never can invest the time needed to finish them, but I fully expect to stick with this to the bitter end !
