I love Pop'n Music, I hate this one. This game is awful, absolutely awful. Before you even think about renting this game, read this review. I have several versions of Pop'n Music for PS2 and an arcade size controller. I used to play it a lot and I couldn't stand playing the Wii version for more than a few songs. It was just so bad.
Controls
You play by shaking the wii remote and nunchuck to the left, right, or down. Unfortunately the controls don't react fast enough or well. If you are hitting several notes quickly it just doesn't work. It also doesn't read directions properly so it can do right and down at the same time even though you just move right. The nunchuck doesn't work well and it's slow. The remote is fine but still not the best way to play music games.
Gameplay and Selection
The song selection is bad. Songs from Brittany Spears, J-Lo, and the Jackson 5. There are a slight few Japanese songs but nothing worth mentioning. All of the songs are cut off at about a minute and a half and that's just annoying. The worst thing is the notes don't land on a line. You see giant buttons and when they get to the buttons you hit them. It's very hard to tell if it's in the right position to hit it and get a great every time, that and the controls don't help. If you're trying to play to the beat, you will miss because the notes don't match with the beat. You also don't play instruments like in the original Pop'n Music you just play a generic clap to the music. It's lame.
Difficulty
Easy is so simple anyone could do it. Hyper (the most difficult level) is still easy. Think Rock Band on easy, that's the hardest level on this game.
