I'll be the first to say it, the game is beautiful. The visuals are really quite impressive. The characters look like their movie counterparts and the environments all look quite nice. The audio is also quite nice as the actors actually performed their dialogue as if they were not barely awake for the recording session (unlike, say, Spider-Man 3). The artists did more than their fair share in making this title and their contributions should be applauded.
Which makes the sheer lack of any real substance to the game exceptionally disappointing. The combat is so simplistic that one barely needs to be conscious to win most battles. The duels are quite tiresome and boring. The puzzles, what few there are, are seldom difficult or challenging to figure out.
If the developers spent nearly as much time fixing the core game play as they did with producing impressive visuals, this game might be a really good title. But, as it is, it is simply a pretty, but bad, game. There is little here not done better by other games. It's too pretty to completely slam, but it's not a good game by any stretch of the imagination.
