So this isn't quite Castle Crashers but it could have been. This COULD have been a really awesome game. First thing I noticed loading up the game. Lag lag freezing lag glitch loading screens unfair. That sums up this entire game. First couple of minutes playing each level the game lags and freezes up briefly but very often. The controls are incredibly laggy and when you press a button either the game won't respond or it takes a bit. The loading screens can be pretty long as though it's loading the entire level before it lets you play and it sounds like the Wii is having a seizure. Also enemies could hit you without being right next to you. The game even throws boulders at you if you don't keep moving. Collecting extra health too long? BOULDERS now you just lost 5 points of health for each one and 4 hit you.
The difficulty is completely unfair. Enemies are way stronger than you and when they gang up you die quickly. You start out the game at such a weak level that you can easily die on the first level and I did. The guys you can choose from are completely unbalanced. They are supposed to have different strengths but they are all basically the same with different offsets. The yellow guy was pathetic but the red one was really fast and stronger. It didn't make sense.
The upgrades and weapons were cool. Everything about the game seemed spot on it was just so busted and it was too difficult. The other problem is you don't have your own account so anyone who plays the yellow guy gets the yellow guy money and levels. So if you change characters or if a friend comes over to play, you could be level 20 and they are level 1. They won't survive anything past the first couple levels. This game is just so badly executed it flat out sucks.

When a landlubber takes your booty, how far are you willing to go to make him walk the plank? You and three other scurvy dogs go out and beat up several bad guys and gals in Pirates Plund-Arrr (that’s how they spell it).
You can pick one of several character types (more types become available as you progress through the game), but there’s really no difference between them.
All you have to do is walk about, mash the 1 and 2 button to beat up on uninspired bad guys and other objects; keep your health full by eating several servings of food along the way (hidden in barrels, boxes or vases); and use points gained in combat to specialize in different type(s) of weapon(s), get more speed and more health.
Along the way, you get gold to get more powerful weapons, but this doesn’t change the tedious combat system one bit.
There are a several boss battles, but those big monsters will fall to most players' relentless hacking, slashing or shooting. What should be the most thrilling parts of this type of game turn out to be the most boring.
And after about three to four hours, I got to the end of the tired journey. The story is almost non-existent, and the characters are all forgettable. Heck, my character doesn’t even get his/her hands on a vast treasure at the end of this game.
Pirates Plund-Arr is only good for those of us looking for a short, mindless beat them up experience, and nothing more. SKIP IT.
