IGN Preview of Our House: Party!
Disappointed there was no Mario Party at E3 this year? Majesco is stepping in with a home improvement-themed party game called Our House. The DIY angle is augmented by the Home Depot license, which you can see in sequences like shopping for tools at a warehouse or from a weekly ad. It's not too obtrusive. In fact, a license like this that is in tune with the game's theme actually enhances the experience, rather than distracts from it.
The goal in Our House is to build a dream house one room at a time. You play a series of minigames (24 in total) to work on kitchens, bedrooms, and gardens. For example, to take care of the lawn, you play a 90-second lawn mowing game where the goal is to gather more clippings than the other players by steering your riding mower over uncut grass. As you complete games, your house expands. You can choose different themes for your house, from rustic to candy land and then show off your growing abode on WiiConnect 24.
While playing, you encounter Monopoly-like chance cards that affect the flow of the contest, such as being charged for repairs or some equivalent DIY snafu. There are also positive chance cards that result in paydays and whatnot.
Our House: Party is set for an October release, giving you plenty of time to practice with real world saws and hammers so you are ready to get up in this game like a pro.
