Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising for Xbox 360 Reviews by Gamers

As all of the reviews have said before, this is not another COD style shooter. This requires strategy, slow movement at times, controlled and accurate fire, and thinking in stressful situations.

This game makes you feel like you are on the front line. In one of my first encounters with hostile forces, I was creeping down the side of a hill to sneak up on my targets. All of a sunned I am spotted and bullets start wizzing over my head, making the snapping sound you always hear soldiers talking about. I peak my head up over my cover, only to have a lead curtain of bullets descend on me kicking up dirt into my eyes. I crawl on my belly trying to find some cover to get my shots off, while directing my fireteam to supply suppressive fire from the ridge. The strategy pays off as I switch my SCAR-L Carbine to semi-auto and start picking off targets. But I'm bleeding, and I am bleeding bad. I have to take the time to bandage my wounds while tracer rounds are flying right over my head. Any moment I could be killed.

This is the intensity of the game. It's as close to combat as I have ever seen in a video game. The missions are designed to be as realistic as possible, including long distances between objectives, meaning you have to traverse long distances repeatedly if you die, all while watching the tree lines for enemy movement. This is one downside of the game, as the save point is right after you last completed objective,. so you do not respawn at the objective you were currently working on.

Some people have said they think the graphics are sub-par. I would completely disagree with this and remind them of the sheer scale of the map. This island is HUGE! The graphics are great, the lighting is excellent. It really feels like boots on the ground. You have to be a patient person to play this game, its not all action all the time, but involves observation, from afar (Binoculars), forming a strategy, and then executing your battle plan.
