Good

Fun budget game

This game is strangely addictive and lightheartedly fun.

The graphics are not polished (low vector environments, jumpy frame rates, etc)

The storyline is downright comical, but appropriate for it's genre and theme.

The controls are a little iffy (not as smooth as a mainstream title, and camera angles are rough)

The game also shows it's age (this game was originally released a couple years back, prior to coming to the USA)

Despite all of this, the gore-fest is very fun and cheeky, with zombies welding chainsaws, guns, and the like, and grows addictive if you can forgive (or embrace) it's "budget game" roots and theme.

Video game design - a gamer's dream. Onechanbara: Bikini Samurai Squad is a dream in concept, and a nightmare in execution.

Step 1: Take a "grocery's worth" list of the things we love - girls, swords, zombies, etc.

Step 2: Design a video game with an out-of-this-world premise that the only way to stop an army of by that of an armed Japanese girl in a bikini.

Step 3: Render the game unplayable.

Onechanbara is in actuality, a poor control scheme running on an epileptic framerate with a "Blair-Witch" camera.

How this game made it through any kind of testing I'm not sure. The menu design looks as if it was made from Microsoft Frontpage (a beginner's guide to website construction), the combat can be played with one's foot, and the character creation is nigh-on impossible to navigate...even with the 4 options for hair color.

Do not attempt to play this game - you're better off with the swine flu.

Honestly, this game is awesome one of the best arcade stlye hack 'n' slash games I've ever played. I don't even know how I found the game, but I when I did find it on GameFly, the first thing I thought was "What the %$#&?". I watched a gameplay video of it, and I said to myself "Let's see here, horrible camera angels, every thing that hits you makes you fly back and hit the ground, the strafing animations are bad... THIS IS MY KIND OF GAME!!" If you put together the beach volleyball girls from Dead or Alive, the serious blood and gore from Gears of War, the hack and slash style of Devil May Cry, and a really cheesey looking movie based off of it, and you got yourself a really awesome game. I really like the CG cut scenes in the game, I like the violence, blood, and the bikinis are just a bonus. The game's got an interesting story, and great characters. The only let-down is that the dialogue is in Japanese, and you can't change the setting to English. But besides that, the game is awesome.
