The twisty South Korean cult classic gets an American makeover by director Spike Lee. Advertising executive Joe Doucett (Josh Brolin) goes on a drunken bender on a night out he'd rather forget. He wakes up to find himself imprisoned inside a dingy hotel room. With no reason given for his predicament and no human face to connect to, Doucett gets locked up for 20 years. Mysteries continue to unfold when Doucett awakens in the middle of a field, released without explanation. Hell-bent on revenge, Doucett charts a course to find out who kidnapped him and why. Along the way, he heads off in search of a missing family member who may hold the answers.
