Back when Okami first released on the Playsation 2 is was a huge hit with critics. To anyone (albeit the few) who played the game will understand immediately why this beloved classic is one of the best, if not THE best, game the Playstation 2 had to offer.
The game is rich with Japanese culture and a clever blend of Japanese mythology. It's story is simple to understand but deep in enough emotion to keep you playing to the end. Combat is a breeze to pick up and for the most part you'll be using your divine instruments (weapons) to attack your enemies but sometimes the game cleverly makes you use your Celestial Brush. The Brush is the main component of it all and most the gameplay revolves around it. With it you can pause the game to and draw a specific symbols to unleash it's power. Whether it's cutting something in half, turning night into day, or creating water lilly's to float on. There's 13 of them so you won't grow hungry for power.
The overall presentation of the game is presented in Japanese style water color an boy does it look fantastic. Each shot is a beautiful one and you'll never get tired of the rich colorful vistas and dynamic environments that always seem to burst with life. In my opinion the games biggest strength comes in it's length. It's a surprisingly long game and depending how skilled you are with a brush it should keep you busy for quite a while.
Now of course there are some problems that should be worth saying. The camera occasionally likes to throw a tantrum and flip out on you. Also some of the later brush techniques kind of fall flat in terms of usefulness, and you will sometimes get lost if you do not pay attention. The characters are not always clear (putting it mildly) and you may get stuck wondering what to do next. However these are minor cracks in an incredibly solid game.
The word perfection really doesn't do Okami any justice. It's just incredibly immensely superbly fantastically fun from start to finish. Yeah, that'll do i

This game is truly one of the final gems produced for the PS2.

The mechanics were solid. Surprisingly solid for the amount of flexibility the game presents. Also surprisingly good for a fighting game. The good here definitely outweighs the bad, but there's still bad.

The camera controls during certain aspects of the game are downright terrible, awkward really. I also can't help but feel the game drags primarily due to your only mode of travel being by foot until a fourth of the way through (the world you're playing in is huge, for the record).

In addition to this, the game itself tends to be incredibly hand-holdy at times (as much as emphasis on "incredibly" as humanly possible), almost as if the developers expected someone to forget a core gameplay mechanic after repeated training sessions centered around learning said mechanic.

This can be easily ignored, but I swear to you, most of the dialog centers on reminding the player of a certain action.

See my review title for a closing statement.

Well to sart the game was a bit confusing but after a while it's easy to undestand, it's japanese or chinese when they talk it dont sound like any kind of languge on earth but it has a text box to tell you what there saying. the game has no storyline so it's hard to know what you need to do theres no map telling you where to go and the area is enourmous you really need to pay attention to what there saying for directions.
It's kind of weird that most of the attaks you have to use some kind of thing but almost all the enimeis are easy yo kill ecept for bosses, and thats all i have to say about this game.
