I enjoyed the first 3 or 4 hours of this game, and I might I say they don't lie when they say it's challenging. But I just couldn't find anything to keep me playing Ninja Gaiden Sigma. I played another of the series, but a more recent one. A lot of people say the first and second are the best, so I'll definitely give those a shot. I'd write more if I enjoyed the game on a higher level, and there have been 5 and 6 rated games that I enjoyed more than this. It's all really personal preference, I'd just prefer a video-game with a better camera, more weapons, dismemberment, and a little faster in the fighting. A rent? Meh, win or lose. A buy? That's up to you ma friends.
Been a hardcore fan of the Ninja Gaiden series since NES days. I bought my original XBOX specifically to get the at the time new Ninja Gaiden game, ended up getting and beating every single one since then, Ninja Gaiden Black, NG2, NG3 and NG3: RE on either every difficulty level or most of them. But that was all on XBOX and Xbox 360. I've never owned a PS3, however I have one while a friend moves and gets settled and he takes it back.
So that said I finally played (years later I know, but literally just finished it) Ninja Gaiden Sigma as I have been dying to for years to check out the differences. Overall, loved the game. Was really cool to remember just how superb this game was. I liked how the incorporated elements from Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword on Nintendo DS as well as yes, I played and beat that too! The new levels with Rachel were...."meh" at times. I mean it was cool to kind of see what she was doing in the background when originally you were fighting fiend hordes but she is a limited ability character weapon and physical wise so it's hard to come off Ryu then try to use her IMO.
Also there were slight changes in the levels that kind of miffed me as they seemed pointless and didn't make sense to me personally having been so used to the originals. Overall, still awesome game, surprisingly I got like 48 scarabs just off memory alone from years ago playing so much haha.
Anyway, since the game is so old I'm probably just talking to air but oh well, thought I would post. I'm looking forward to getting Sigma 2 next then Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z when it comes out in a couple months though of course I can't take it seriously. Hopefully Team Ninja learned from the mistakes of NG3 (original version) and make a magnificent NG4!
