Very Good

Good Game

I was surprised that I enjoyed this game as much as I did. It wasn't well advertised and kinda' flew below radar, but much to my surprise this game delivers in the action and butt kicking department. The timed button pressing starts out to be a bit much but once you get use to it and can nail them fluently you will be gifted with some pretty nice sequences. Oh, did I fail to mention that if you miss a button or direction you don't get punished by having to start all over. It just rewinds a bit and let's you do that portion over. To me for this type of game that was a well thought out idea. The plot and story line isn't very deep but is very easy to follow. It may not seem logical at times or make much sense or even explain why these people can single handedly whoop King Kong or Godzilla; but who cares about that part. I doubt any body renting a game called Ninja Blade is expecting to much from the game in that department.

Definitely worth a rental.

Ninja Blade, ok but not great

I decided to rent this title because I tried and enjoyed the demo. Ninja Blade definitely has alot of great things about it that really impressed me, but at the same time some of it also had me hesitant to start it up after a few stages.
Good things:
1.Ninja Blade has a very strong cinematic sense about it that if applied to an action movie would probably make it a must see for most guys.
2.Upgradeable weapons and ninjitsu powers
3.A large collection of ninja costumes and emblems to collect that even let you customize the colors and will stay that way even through the cut scenes(sometimes it's the smallest things that I appreciate)(and as of now 1 free dlc for even more costumes)
4.Changes up the pace a few times with a turret sequence
5.A few epic boss fights
6.Quick time events to finish off the bosses in stylish ways

Not so good things (some relating to the good things):
1.The biggest problem I had with this game is that it doesn't have save points to come back to in the level you were playing if you have to stop for any reason, and with some of the levels being almost an hour long, it's a real pain to be 40 minutes in then stop, and have to replay the whole way
2.There's only 3 different weapons
3.There's plenty costumes, but none of them change the look of the costume, just the patterns of cloth, and most of the costumes are outright ugly (I kept the original costume the whole game because it's the only one that didn't look like fashion vomit)
4.Very few different enemies with no variety amongst them (always kind of bothers me a little when there's 8 guys on the screen that are exactly the same)
5.The game recycles the bosses a couple times (one is of 2 specific people...?Aren't you dead?)

After the first couple of levels I found myself a little bored with it and didn't play for a few days, and then when I did play through the rest of the the game, it was to hurry up and finish so I can find out the rest of the story and send this back.

Quick review Ninja Blade

This game is okay by itself except for a few things. First it is one of the most repetitive games I have ever played. It soon use a rinse and repeat cycle for every boss battle. Hit the boss have him do an attack three times, attack him back repeat. Second thing is that this game does not save your upgrades. Okay I beat the first mission woo-hoo for me. So when I went into the next mission screen I figured to upgrade my swords and what not. I found out later when I left the game after I already received a checkpoint save. That the game did not save my upgrades, oh my achievements were still there, but not the upgrades. Also no offense but the bosses were kind of stupid. A mutant here a giant spider there. I was even fighting a giant spiny snail. A snail. Really? However the achievements were named admirably. I also like how they used quick time events. Even though I still do not quick time events they did do them a lot better than most. I would recommend this game if you are a fan and want to pick up and play a quick hack-en-slash game. Also if you are a fan of the Ninja Gaiden series. This has been a quick time review. For more on this game please see other reviews.
