this game came out of nowhere for me and i am so glad i rented it. i seriously had more fun playing this in the first 10 hours than i did the last two final fantasy games! and i love final fantasy by the way..not a hater. colorful, witty, fun game experience for all ages here on this. not a over complicated battle system and menu but enough variety to keep it fresh with the collecting of familiars. it is cute and very gorgeous looking,it looks like you are watching a anime while you play. may be too cutesy for some but give it a try and you'll be hooked.
ok now for the only bad part so far (i am saying this 11 hours in..this may change..who knows??) the only drawback and complaint i have is that i feel the actual characters are very weak and you are depending on using the creatures to battle exclusively. i wish the creatures were used more as a situation calls for it.(boss battles, special attacks, etc,etc...) it just feels like i have used my character for 10 minutes after the initial 2 hours or so. i pretty much swap my character in to heal, revive and change to serenade creatures to capture them and that is it. other than that this game is a lot of fun..i can not stress that enough, i have used that word a bunch of times and that is the best way to describe this gem of a JRPG..FUN!! try it!!

When I first dove into Ni No Kuni I was rather bored at the start. However, once I got 4 or 5 hours in, I got hooked. The amount of familiars is awesome and it is true a unique game that any RPG fan will appreciate. The battle mechanics are a bit repetitive at first and you have to do your fair amount of grinding to level up but it's all worth it. Once you catch more familiars and unlock more special abilities, the game truly opens up. I can easily see myself playing this game for at least 40 hours so I'm probably going to buy because I'm enjoying it so much.
