Ever since the original New Super Mario Bros on the DS, I have been waiting for a 2D mario game that made me feel as exhilarated as Super Mario World. Secret Exits, charming visuals, a huge map with shortcuts, and a special bonus star world were all there.
And they are all back.
This game offers a simple and joyful experience. This is what pure platforming is all about. This game oozes nostalgic fun.
The only problem I have with this game is the graphics. They seem underdone, rushed, and sloppy. The backgrounds are pretty but there are times the graphics are especially rough on the gamepad. This does not really affect the gameplay, it just prevents me from giving this game a perfect rating.
Also the gamepad is not utilized in a revolutionary way, but I think thats okay with a New Super Mario Bros game.
The challenge mode is a fantastic addition. IF Nintendo was to produce a sandbox mode DLC for this where players could create levels, it would be a 10.
the wii u is great. one of the best. so let's start a wii u game simple, with mario. even though i still prefer sonic no doubt this game was good if not great. but it lacks... hmmm what's the word i'm looking for...innovation? ya that's it. you see it is similar compared to super mario brothers wii. but theres a difference never the less. how so? the gamepad of course. but it ain't nothing special. theres something called boost mode. which allows the person with the gamepad to create platforms for the playing characters. all you have to do is touch the gamepad on the place you want the platform to be. now for the controls...same as always
2= activate ability
controller position= sideways.
for the gamepad in single player it's basicly ds controls.
game is good but i have one problem with it. no story. it's the same as always. peach get's kidnapped mario goes to save her. bla blah bla. you know the details. i by no means hate the game it just lacks innovation. so it get's my ninja style grade of a...B- with a medal of "need to try harder" it is by no means a bad game it just needs more innovation. like most reviewers say. good? yes. best wii u game? no. i think if i get more wii u games i'll be the judge of that. no if you excuse me i'm going to search for more wii u games.
