Redemption comes through bitter revenge in this street saga based on the acclaimed 1974 cult novel by African-American author, Donald Goines. Stylish yet hardened criminal, King David (DMX), returns home in hopes of finding redemption, but instead meets with a grizzly death. Paul (David Arquette), an aspiring journalist, is there to witness King David's last breaths. King David leaves behind an audiotape, a poetic eulogy chronicling the exploits leading up to his final days. The tape reveals an almost prophetic insight as King David spins his tale of violence and its consequences, knowing he'll be doomed by his actions. Goines penned his first two books in prison. He crafted 16 more in the four years following his release before falling to a bullet in 1974.
