The Need For Speed franchise really missed the mark on this extremely linear game. Right off the bat i noticed the actual driving mechanics to be floaty and feel as if it was a game on rails.
The only reason I gave this game a 3 instead of a 1 is that it was playable and there were no glitches, so at least they finished the game.
The game becomes very repetitive early on and you'll very quickly realize that there is a limited amount to be done in this game. Unlocking cars feels pointless as you can pretty much win races without swapping. The "pull into the gas station" to switch cars really pulls you out of whatever action there might be and honestly are sometimes placed so badly that you end up falling way behind in the race.
Later on when your car starts getting attacked there is little to nothing you can do to defend yourself besides attempt to go faster. To think that these SUV's shooting at you can keep up with your super expensive highly modded car is laughable. I mean, why didn't they just enter themselves? The helicopter attacks are also annoying at best since this racing game is so linear your car will be pushed into oncoming bullet fire by the level itself.
I could also go to great lengths about how bad the story line is, but honestly there is no reason to play a Need For Speed game for quality writing. That being said my review is based solely on the racing and game mechanics, which should be perfect in any game in this franchise.
If your looking for a great racing game keep moving.
