It took me a little bit to get used to the controls but I'd say only about a 20min learning curve for the game.
This is the best Need for Speed game for the DS I personally have played. The game isn't without it's issues but the DS doesn't have a lot of hardware either to run games and everything look good.
As you might of expected Need for Speed Pro Street runs very smoothly. (Good Frame Rates)
You aren't able to buy parts and customize your car like the console versions but you can win certain parts and place them on your car. They just couldn't fit all of that on the DS version.
The graphics are better than I expected also. The sounds are lacking. Decent music from punk bands is played while you Race. Multiplayer is alot of fun and you can always find racers quickly.
The game has all of the modes that the console versions have. Different races, drift mode, Drag racing mode, and time laps and such.
I don't think that anyone will find this game to suck completely so you are safe to at least rent it and give it a try. No matter what I say you will have to decide yourself but it is nice to check user reviews first.
I am glad I rented the game, would I buy it? Naaa but I'm not big into racing games. But the fact that I like it not being into racing games I think says a lot about it.
