Realistically, this game is about a 5 or 6, but being named "Most Wanted" you simply expect so much more. In car terms, it's as if you expected a Ferrari and only got a Chevy or Toyota, not necessarily bad, but so much less than expected. It's as if the developers asked what was loved most about the original Most Wanted and nixed those aspects. In my opinion, the best parts about the original were 1: Police chases, namely blasting through a police road block at 100+ in a Lambo and watching the police cars tumble away into oblivion while experiencing no damage to my car. 2: Starting out with realistic cars (i.e. Chevy's, Toyota's, Honda's etc...) customizing them and moving up to better cars as the game went on. And 3: the racing mechanic itself. The creators of this game kept the concept of the police chases but completely removed the arcade fun from the concept. They completely nixed the car evolution and customization for the most part (you unlock upgrades for beating races, but all cars are available from the start). They did, however, keep a good balance between simulation and arcade in the driving mechanics, which I do like. My question is: Why did they change or dispose of the best parts of the original?
Dont expect a racing sim this is an arcade racer...If you just get one car and dont try a few out you might not enjoy the handling, doesnt mean its not there. Waiting for Criterion to get back to Burnout 3 Takedown but Hot Pursuit and this one are my next favs. Soundtrack is perfect for the game and the graphics are really impressive.
