Over the years, I have played all or most NFS games and generally enjoy them. This is the first one I've not finished. I sent it back after about 3 hours of gameplay.
Positives: the standard (not most wanted) races were fine; the graphics are good; the city is a nice design to drive around it; I like the ability to easily apply new car parts you win in races with a single button click
Negatives: I found the driving controls unprecise, often sending me careening into things (only partly due to my driving skills!). The killer for me was that I just could not escape the cops in a most wanted race. I drove around for 30 minutes with the cops endlessly chasing me. Every time I hit a cooldown where they lost track of me, within a few seconds more cops spawned in front of me and made a bee-line for me (even if I repainted the car during the cooldown period) and started the whole process again. After about the 5th try with same result, I decided I was getting way too frustrated and not having fun any more, so back to GameFly with you!
this was a game i really wanted to enjoy...i might rerent it to beat it however i surely won't be purchasing it. i never thought there'd be a day i'd get a need for speed game that had cars just to find like grand theft auto lol
Having been a gamer racer all my life, I will always try a NFS title regardless of what I see on the reviews. Having said that, many of the negative reviews are correct on this game. EA continues to focus on quantity instead of quality of games and it shows for NFS MW. All the cars and the environments looks great, however, they are not well enough to notice the giant holes in game play. Every informative negative review commented on the fact that this game really needed a story to follow. I definitely agree that this would have made a huge improvement on pulling you in to the game's universe. Also, there is no customizations in this game, only power ups. Power ups such as "Aero Body" which helps with the control of your car changes nothing about the way your car looks. Even a little wing in the back of the car would of helped me feel like I actually did something when I selected this option. The game is no where near simulation. I mean its so far from a sim that I completely drove like a blind person when I got back on my Forza 4. Overall I played this game for 3 days maybe one or two hours each and decided that it was too repetitive. Not a complete waste of time but true racers will not enjoy this experience.
