First off I want to mention that this is a arcade style racing game so all the people complaining how there isn't much option for customization or how it isnt Forza or Grand Turismo...well it won't be. This is how NFS used to be.

There is a career mode with no real story. You pretty much either race or play as the cop. You get to level to 20 on each side and as you progress you unlock cars and weapons.

Tracks: there are enough tracks with beautiful scenery and awesome short cuts.

Car selection: Huge selection of cars. Only customizable feature is the paint and I do love the brief history lesson like in the original NFS games on the PC from the 1990's.

There are 2 things that stand out in this game which is worth it in my opinion.

Autolog: this keeps track of everything you do in the game and allows you to taunt your friends if you beat them.

Online play: online play is simple and fun.

Downside: only downside to the game is the controls. It took me a few days to get used to the controls but they still feel a bit sluggish at times. Over correcting is very easy in the game and would frustrate people who are used to Project Gotham, Forza and so on.

Final Thoughts

As someone who hates open world racing games as well as simulation racers, this installment of NFS is exactly what I have been craving and needing. It has the refinement and feel of classic NFS games but with the raw and visceral feel Burnout 3 and Burnout Revenge brought to us on the xbox. Overall the game has a few things that could have been done better (controls and more customization options) but its a great game. If you enjoy games like NFS Underground, Forza, Gran Turismo or Project Gotham, rent the game. If you miss the Burnout style games, then you will want to buy this one.

I like that this NFS title has a more realistic driving experience than previous versions. The physics crash engine looks terrific and the cars look more realistic than ever. The only downfall to the game is its lack of balance between playing as a criminal or a cop. As a criminal, I can do 200mph+ in a McLaren F1 and yet the cops can pass me and throw down spike strips. Yet when I play as a cop, I can hit 200mph and barely keep the criminals in my sight. There are a few more imbalances such as this between cop and criminal but not enough to destroy the entertaining game play. I would definitely recommend this title to other racer-game enthusiasts.
