NCAA 07: PS2
I’ve never been a college football fan rather than maybe my local teams and a few others, so when I picked this game up I imagined that I wouldn’t be much of a fan of it either. I was very wrong.
This is probably one of the best SPORTS games out there period right now, and with Madden 07 coming out later this month, I really hope they come on as strong as EA did with NCAA. The game looks good, sounds good, feels good, and plays great. This is by far the finest football game I have ever played. The atmosphere in the game is almost unbelievable. The fans actually can force the other team to mess up with their noise level, and the game does a good job of using momentum to your teams advantage or disadvantage.
The playbooks are big and give you a lot of different types of plays including the uber-fun Option plays.
The control scheme is well designed for both the offense and defense with plenty of ways to embarrass your opponent. The game is very deep and exciting with plenty of things to do. There are exhibition games, mascot games, rivalry games , Campus Legend and Dynasty games with much more. The only sore spot in the game is that the Campus Legend and the Dynasty modes feel kind of simple and outdated, but are still tons of fun.
The game features the BEST commentators in any game out there. Lee Corso, Kirk Herbstreit, and Brad Nessler fill the commentating booth and do a great job. They repeat themselves occasionally, but they work together and stay true to the game.
So with a great atmosphere, controls, depth, features, and overall quality to this game make it a wonderful game for anyone who is remotely interested in football and sports in general. Hopefully Madden will bring the same quality as NCAA 07 has this year, and hopefully many years to come.
