After playing Nba live 08 I found the game to be very boring, it seems that all you can really do is dunk, I would have liked to see better graphics. At first I thought the hot spots would have been an upgrade, but after playing with another person, I found it to be not so good. almost as if it didn't matter where you were at on the court. When you try to use the L2 to pass to the player that you want to it would just pass to the person who is closest to that basket which I thought really took the fast break out of the game which I think is the best part. It seems like they didn't put very much into it as they were not really concerned about the PS2 as much as they were for the PS3.
NBA Live 08 has some awesome features such as hot spots, salary cap exeptions(dynasty mode) and rumers(dynasty). They are all cool and can help greatly depending on the situation. The dynasty is fairly extensive as you have many factors in keeping your team running well. Though a new addition to the game are hot spots, I have found that if you are not in a hot spot making a shot becomes highly difficult, however, if you are in that hot spot, you can make a good percentage. For instance, using Ray Allen (who has a hot spot all the way around the 3point arc exept in the right corner) I put down several threes with guys in my face, however, when he had the ball WIDE open in the right corner he missed the shot both times. So hot spots have advantages and disavantages. The gameplay is very good because it reflects real NBA play fairly well. (Better than other years of the game)
The biggest problem I personally have with the game is that the Celtics are rated quite low. Come on, Pierce, Allen and Garnett.
I would definatly suggest this game. It fun and challenging.
