Im not going to be playing Basketball online till EA makes another game,Please EA make a real Basketball Game!
It may have a lot of hype but i must say it lives up to it. For the first hour or two i was disappointed. As soon as i understood the controls and got a season mode going i was hooked. The physics of the game are realistic and with a few tweaks such as game slider adjustments to dunking in traffic and player speed; as well as a bit of time with the training modes to learn some moves then this game will likely satisfy. The historic team and legend selection is awesome. set up a playoff tree with all the old school teams you want. sall i gots to say.
This game is a monster, Association, Myplayer, and...well those are the only 2 game modes that matter. They are near perfect, as close as any other sports game. You have to make a few slight tweaks to the settings for myplayer. I change the clock settings to 9 minutes a game, 5 is way too short.
You earn VC(virtual currency) like experience points for playing the game, and you use this to improve the stats and add traits to your player. Unfortunately you generally get drafted mid 1st round, and so far I've been taken by the Rockets as a PG, and set behind Jeremy Lin, and by the Magic as a C to follow in the footsteps of great centers to abandon the team cause they aren't good enough.
Association is solid, menu's are fairly easy to navigate building a team is easy, and the season can be done quickly and offseason is quick as well. I finished 10 seasons in about 5 hours playing no games.
There are 2 reasons why this game doesn't get a 10. The first is the progression of players and amount of talent that enters the league. To start the game there are 5-6 over 90 overall players in the league. After 6 years of drafting my starting lineup was all 90s and there were 3-4 other teams that had atleast 3 spots in their starting lineup with 90s.
The second is a common problem among lots of games nowadays. Because it's all connected and tracked online you have little to no customization over the game. This also gives them the opportunity to sell you the VC so you can improve your player by paying for it. Which creates a pay to win environment in the multiplayer version of this mode.
Bottom line, this version is excellent. It's much improved over 11 and 12, and by adding the micro transactions 2K hasn't done anything that most other companies aren't doing. I also love to see EA getting outshined by 2K.
