The shot is off the mark

With the lockout threatening to demolish this year’s NBA season, players will have to run to their consoles to get their professional basketball fix.
And if NBA 2K12 is any indication, they may not be getting the quality play they’re looking for. This game is exactly like last year’s version – the graphics are the same, the controls are the same, and the commentary is almost the same.
Even the problems from last year show up this year; shooting free throws is harder than it should be, there are glitches with the motion controls, and there’s no online features.
The only new feature that is available is the ability to play as one of the NBA’s greatest teams- from Michal Jordan’s Bulls to Bird’s Celtics to Oscar Roberson’s Lakers. But because of the control issues and bland presentation, this game makes those legends seem average when they should be extraordinary.
NBA 2K12 is one game that only certain fans of basketball ought to play. The rest of us should stick with last year’s version. SKIP IT.
