Good

Great game if you like Dynasty Warriors

Considering when this game came out, it is a very good game. I only have 1 problem with it. Another Dynasty Warriors clone. While the game is different, it did feel the same to me. The game is fairly cheap now, so I may just go buy it if I feel like some mindless slaughter, but for now I just sent it back. I played it for a few hours. Again, it would be a great game to play if I didn't just finish playing another game just like it.

Really Bad

My X button is smoking

CAUTION: You're fingers may be exposed to continuous blistering or swelling from excessive button mashing. Your controller may also spontaneously explode during gameplay. If the buttons begin to melt or smoke, turn off the xbox and leave the room for 20-30 minutes. (This is also one of the worst possible games on the 360 for achievement hunters.)

There are some things about N3 that I could not get past, which explains the abysmal rating. I played N3:2 before this one, mainly because I didn't own a 360 at the time of this game's release. I thought the sequel was better and improved lots of things I hated about this one. This genre of fighting, button mashing games isn't usually my style, and maybe that's why I hated N3. Unlike God of War/Dante's Inferno type games, the combos you use actually make a difference. Here, not so much.

It's unique that you see hundreds if not thousands of enemies rushing at you on the battlefield. But the biggest problem is that your character can give "command" over 2 types of troops. The description or benefits of choosing one troop type over the other doesn't exist, so trial and error your way to death. You can tell them to attack or defend, and you'd think with hundreds of enemies running at you that your allies would be killing left and right. That could not be any further from the truth. They stand there like a bunch of limp-wristed mannequins.

Your allies are the most useless reerees I've ever seen. They either "defend" while standing doing nothing, or "attack" standing doing nothing. You'll have to flail your sword through your own allies to find the hidden little enemy you need to kill before advancing because your guys do NOTHING.

There are just too many flaws to make this game playable. Lots of these little nuisances were fixed in the sequel, so if you're considering N3 as a rental, go for the second one.
