I had high hopes for MySims. EA was doing something different for a change and I really like the Sims series. However, what looked to be a great game turned out to be a mediocre effort. MySims is not your typical Sims game. Gone are the moderately realistic avatars you create. In are cute, chibi-esque characters that have blocky heads and bodies with limited creative choices in how you create them. Gone are the micro-management tasks and in is a very simplified building sim. You'll be building - a lot. In fact, the whole game is focused around building whether it be houses, chairs, beds or anything the townspeople may summon you to build. There are many qualms I have about this game. There is very little in terms of game play. There's never the incentive to keep your avatar alive because that aspect is completely removed. Your avatar never needs to eat, sleep or relieve themselves. Interaction with townspeople is limited to being "nice" or "mean" to them. Building is often tedious and some require you locate "essences" in order to complete. The game often suffers from bad frame rates and long loading times whenever you enter or leave a house. However, the game is not without its charm and does allow for some creativity in the building aspect. Overall, this is a very dumb down version of the Sims. Kids will probably love the cute characters and building block style construction, but for any Sims enthusiast, this is not it. It is worth a rent, but definitely not worth the $50 asking price. Good thing there's Gamefly.

After being a huge fan of The Sims this game can really be better. You continue to play i beleive hoping things will improve, or just to see the changes of the game. There is no real return value! EA/Maxis could have done a MUCH better job!
