I've spent countless hours in the past on the first Musashi... so I figured with the opportunity to rent the sequel, I should do it. Initially, my reaction is.. "good grief... idiotic storyline and dialogue" .. but I pushed past it. Some of the gameplay is alright, but yes, it's repetitious. At least in the first game, the bosses all take different strategies and keep you guessing... after struggling through the first few bosses in the sequel, most have virtually the same patterns and techniques to beat it. And if you miss one turn or clue, you could end up wandering for hours in a single area and be forced to look up a guide online.

Gameplay, overall... is weak. Graphics, sorta remind you of the first one, but not nearly as cute. Storyline, again, reminds a little of the first one.. but it's just not as well thought out and interesting. The combat style is different than the first, although some of the concepts are the same. However, due to changes they made in the sequel, it's far more repetitive, and lacks the thought needed to use all the various techniques you use in the first one.

Cut scenes are decent, and it's a decent game, but don't expect great things from this game. I enjoyed checking it out, but I didn't feel the need to finish the game - I got bored. If I had to pick, I'd just play the first one over. :)

This game is so horrible, it lacks uniqueness in every way possible. Sure, you can get certain monsters techniques, but the way they made you do it is extremely annoying.

To get a monster technique you have to fill up a gauge, during this fill up stage you can't defend, only attack. The problem here is that you may accidentally kill the enemy before you get it's technique. This game has nice graphics, but that's IT. The gameplay is horribly repetitive, it's boring, it's old, it's lame, it's extremely depressing. This game is challenging because of the terrible combat system that isn't fun in any aspect. Sure it's fun at first but after the 300th enemy of the same type falls to your blade it is so unsatisfying. The level design is also...HORRIBLE. The developers most of loved copy and paste because they did a lot of it. This game shouts ugliness. The script and storyline isn't even interesting! This is truly an example of what a horrible and boring game looks like. Tetsuya Nomura, the man behind Kingdom Hearts worked on this title. His artwork clearly shows with all the characters, but it just doesn't do this title justice. This game is horrible, DO NOT RENT IT. It's a waste of time and it's...really...not fun. It is only a stressful time.

What could I say about Musashi. Well to start off, there was a horrible lack of a storyline. The general plot of this game is to save a princess. Along the way, you do a lot of completely useless stuff. The graphics are alright, and the anime-esque cutscenes are alright, but the camera is lacking. To wrap it up the voice-acting and music is miserably painful. Imagine muting the game all the way through.
