When an ancient evil threatens to rise and take over the world - and if the Ghostbusters, Men in Black, and the US Armed Forces aren't available, what do you do?
You call in the O'Connells, the same family who took out the mummy in the first two installments of The Mummy movie franchise.
In this 3D platformer, you play as either Rick or Alex O'Connell. Each Act, you go from start to finish, beat up bad guys, solve puzzles and crawl along ledges. Each has more problems then the army of undead clay things.
When you shoot at an enemy, you can lock on to him or her, but you can't jump, and the dodge function requires a lot of space; you don't just sidestep the attack, you leap several feet in one direction.
The camera also gets in the way of combat - off screen enemies are hard to find and harder to dodge.
The puzzles are inventive, but the use of the Wiimote is clunky and haphazard. Turning a lever or lifting a pole became much tougher than it should be.
The ledge climbing is the worst of the bunch; it's hard to tell which ledges you can use and it's far too easy to fall off ledges to your character's death.
Despite that, the graphics are good (the cut scenes are great to look at), and there's a lot of fun of shooting and beating up the bad guys If only the camera and jumping didn't make this game frustrating.
The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor is a good rent, but I wouldn't buy it for $50.

Take this game for what it is, something fun to do for a few hours, and you'll be amazed with it. I was very skeptical of this game but decided to give it a try because I liked the movie so much. This game has no defining characteristic but it has elements from fighting games, shooters, and Tomb Raider, and yes, light-gun. The motion controls in this game doesn't the fast-paced action that will have you hooked.

That being said, this game won't have you hooked for very long. The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor is very short with only 7 levels. Those seven feature almost all of the action scenes from the movie. Speaking of which, definitely watch the movie first because otherwise the storyline will be very sketchy. The cutscenes basically provide a summary of the movie. The sidequests are nothing that will challenge you. The game itself is very easy but parts of the last couple of levels will challenge you.

Keep in mind that this is a game with a diverse range of aspects and you will have a lot of fun.

This is one of the best shooters for the Wii that I've played so far. PERFECTION...Tomb Raider should take some hints from this game. I didn't think this game was gonna be that good. It blew me out of the water. DEFINET PURCHASE! MUY AMOR!
