Nostalgia trip that wasn't disappointing

I played the original Mortal Kombat back in the early 90's and remember it was the coolest thing you could do the splits and punch someone in the groin. That is one of my earliest video game memories.
Fast forward to now, they release what is essentially a reboot of the original game, with all of the fighters, in a story like mode, except in this one you fight Shao Kahn at the end as well (And let me tell you, that fight is pretty flawed, they got MK so right to the point where you STILL need to spam distance shots with your character to beat the final boss)
But I really enjoyed it, I love the new X-ray moves, they give a new feeling to the game, and when you get damaged it shows on your character, it is a nice touch, I like how they kept all the original moves, and then added some as well, along with combos, but nothing too much.
The single player is pretty cool, it flows perfectly, it will start with some guys talking, then you take control of one, and then gracefully and fluidly moves to the next character, it all feels nature, oh, and also, no load times, what so ever, that was a really nice touch, NetherRealm Studios proved you can make a game without ridiculously long load times.
They have a challenge tower as well, which, to this day I still have not beaten, (think I am at like 200), it's exactly what it sounds like, each level you try to do a certain thing, like not get hit in the face 5 times, or breaking the blocks, etc.
MP, I only tried once (because the wife used the online code) oh yeah, there is a online code you need to use in order to play online. But I tried it, and got spammed by someone, it wasn't fun, it is fun playing with friends though, can do up to 4 people (tag teams). There are too many improvements to list here, but they are all welcomed, it is a great addition to anyones game library, it's one of those games you just keep and continuously come back to. Give it a try if you haven't you won't be disappointed.
