The Best Mortal Kombat Yet

I have been completely blown away by this game. I've always been a fan of Mortal Kombat, I played Trilogy when I was just a kid (with the gore turned off to appease my parents!) and loved it, but I have to be honest, the quality of the games have always been hit or miss. Armageddon was a bit of a clusterfreak, no doubt and MK v DC was very silly. But forget all of those, this 2011 reboot of Mortal Kombat is the new, quintessential MK experience, and in my honest opinion the most enjoyable fighter on the shelves right now.
The storyline is immediately impressive. Of course, as a fighting game, nobody expects it to match Bioware or Bethesda, but it still does an utterly phenomenal job of rebooting the franchise and the writers pulled no punches. The story is daring with characters shockingly killed off, and the presentation is satisfying. No corners were cut when it came to arenas and mid-battle cinematics (which are gorgeous and using the in-game engine).
Honestly, all of the presentation is great. The entire game is polished to a beautiful shine, and it shows. Beyond a handful of recycled animations on an unlockable character (you won't get any spoilers from me!), the utmost attention of detail has been put into every character model, every animation, every battlefield.
I'm going to list a few faults, however. These are, to me, the only faults with this game. First, the voice acting on some characters is lacking. Plenty are quite solid, even excellent, but others, like Shang Tsung, sound like a teenager giving a silly evil bad guy impression. Additionally, most of the female character costumes are... ridiculous to say the least. Sure those who enjoy fighting games are no strangers to busty women in revealing clothes, but some of these costumes make the Dead or Alive girls look modest.
That's it though. Really, that's all. The gameplay is fast and brutal, the violence is over the top and satisfying. The entire game is a smash hit and I highly recommend it!
