Having played Mortal Kombat since I was a kid, I liked being able to play my favorite characters, with a wide array of over 60 to choose from. The Konquest mode is a fun new addition, and a good way to accrue points with which to customize your own fighter, that feature being my favorite thing about the game. You get to choose precisely how your ideal fighter would look, fight with and without a weapon, and what special elemental attacks they can use. The way in which elemental attacks are performed, with different motions of the Wiimote, is in itself a reason to try out this game. And at the end of a match, you can use the movements of the Wiimote and Nunchuck to inflict a variety of fatalities on your opponents, from breaking limbs and necks to ripping out spines. The fighting arenas are all full of pitfalls and booby-traps which you can take advantage of to send your opponent into a black hole, the path of an oncoming subway train, or into a pit of hot lava, among other gruesome ends. Overall, this is a fantastic bloody and entertaining game, and if you like playing classic characters like Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Raiden, and Kitana, and have always wanted to combine different traits to make the perfect fighter for you, this game will rub you the right way.
