By far one of the best games for PS2. Camera takes some getting used to, and the fighting too, but once you get it down you will not put it down. Online is great. Friends, quests, and help. Can't get that Rathalos/Rathian armor? Than go online and there will be tons of people able to help you out, almost all of them will too. You will wanna play it forever, and the only thing that will stop you is a power outage. If you haven't played this game, than you ain't living. Highly recommended. GET IT NOW!!!!!

this is one of my all time favorite games. it is a RPG however the fighting style takes a lot of skill in that you have to actually AVOID enemy attacks. after you kill a enemy you carve off peaces and use that to make strong armors and weapons. it fetchers on line where you fight with 4 friends at a time. you can switch between Gunner, Blade master, Duel blades, Massive hammers and more! everyone should get this game at least 1 time!

Alright let me get this out there in the open. this is not your average RPG. This game is not for everyone and dont bother renting it unless you have an internet adapter or its gonna suck.
Personally I loved this game simply for one thing: Its an RPG that takes REAL skill. Dont get me wrong alot of RPG's require alot of thinking and all that but this game is all about outsmarting the creatures your fighting, dodging their attacks, and sweepinmg in for the kill using the right attacks at the right time, and the controls are superb imo. Some people may be turned off by no lock on camera which can be annoying at times but this game jsut wouldn't work as well with one (are specific dmg and all). The game is kinda of lacking offline simply because their is pretty much no story what so ever. The entire purpose of the game is to get kickass new armor and weapons and that isnt all that much fun by yourself.
However online this game truly shines shines. There is nothing like getting 3 of your buddies together and fighting for 15 min to take down that rathalos and getting that scale you have been questing for. The game is very rewarding with the aspect of making armor and waepons from the creatures you kill. People online are also usually very friendly. The only real letdown is that there is no voice chat but a USB keyboard can be used (and i strongly suggest you use one or buy one if you have the 20 bucks to spare on a cheapo) My favorite aspect is the real sense of progresssion through the game. You start out with weak looking leather armor to looking like a total badass with covered in spikes and toting a giant Katana that shoots sparks everywhere when you use it. The monsters scale as well. As you gain rank you get to fight bigger and cooler mosnters and stronger Wyverns then ever before.
Alhtough not for everyone this game is definently a shining example of good old fashion item hunting fun and should be given a chance by everyone.
