Monster House is a good game in the past years. I played on the Gamecube,PS2,Gameboy,and the DS/DSI. So I rented the DS version and it was stupid. I picked horrible because it was stupid and suckish. So here my final rating...0.0!!!!!!!!!!!

Monster House Game A Monstrosity

Games based on movie licenses are notoriously bad, and Monster House is no exception. Despite it's decent graphics and Smash-TV style pedigree, this game falls short on actual FUN.
The controls are actually work pretty well, and the hit-detection is mostly competent, but the gameplay itself is very repetitive, and the constant overhead view means you miss out on most of the interesting visuals.
The development team had the right idea with this game, but the execution leaves a lot to be desired. The game is too hard for it's target audience, and too boring for everybody else.

I wanted to buy Monster House for my DS. I then joined Gamefly and put it first in my que. I'm glad I rented it first! The day I got the game I put it in my DS. I was so excited. The graphics were cool and the game was looking so much like the movie! Then I hit the start button to begin the game and was so disappointed that I shut the game off and put it in the return envelope all within a matter of 10 minutes.
At the beginning you chose which character you would like to be and then once the challenge starts you are looking more at the bottom screen. This is a visual for where all the enemies are and where you should be shooting. But you are so busy looking at the bottom screen that you don't get to enjoy the graphics of the game. And when you do shoot all the enemies then you sit there wondering what's next and you look at the top screen and realize your character should be entering another room.
The design of this game could have been so much better for game play. To have to look at one screen with just a bunch of dots and then when the player gets a chance to look at the top screen to see the graphics is too much. I guess if you can multi-task well, then you might be able to handle the game. In my opinion, this game was a big disappointment and not worth buying. Or renting.
