WHY CAN'T SOMEONE MAKE A REALISTIC RACE GAME?!?!

First off, it's nice to see the other reviewers out there seeing exactly what I saw.
I mean, I was really perplexed, because they obviously put a good amount of time into designing this game, but the racing action is so bad, that the game becomes worthless. Just a complete headache.
This has the racing action I've seen in a few other titles, where it's more video game lunacy, versus anything realistic and fun.
The action goes so fast, that you can't even see where you are going, and so you have to follow the AI drivers until the end.
I don't mind some extra features, but if the race action is not good, then the game is doomed, and the race action here is NOT GOOD.
I love the thrill of speed, but as another reviewer put it so well, it ends up being nothing but luck as to what happens in the race.
You are moving so fast, that the map can't even keep up, and you never know which way you are supposed to turn next.
What a shame, because I live in LA, and this game had SO MUCH potential, but just simply falls flat on it's face.
