Other then improving on the controls, this game is just like the first one. Graphics looked great on the first prime, in fact they was quite impressive. However that was several years ago and we are on a supposedly more powerful next gen console? Graphics wise this game looks exactly like the first one. Other then the Wii-mote this could have easily been a Gamecube game. I see several reviewers talking about the amazing graphics of this game, apparently they have not played a Xbox 360 or PS3 FPS yet?
I just find the game play annoying. There are alot of puzzles that will cause you to backtrack every so often, which that in itself is fine. What is annoying is every time you walk into a room you got some random enemy with a chain gun hopping all over the room while you try to lock onto it and shoot it approximately 50ish times. Doing this the first time you enter a room is fine, but when you step outside to look for something and walk back in a few minutes later I don't feel like spending forever killing this same enemy again.
When I look at other FPS games I have played recently(Darkness, Half-Life2, Bioshock) this game comes up way short. All of these games offer nice big areas of unique areas to explore and entertaining story and game play value. OF course this game is not a FPS per say right? So when I look at it as a MEtroid game it still comes up short. Between the space station and 3 planets I have visited all have pretty much had nothing but tightly cramped maze like corridors. To be that is just boring.
I will be honest I was not a fan on the first prime for most of the same reasons. However the only thing I will give Nintendo is they did improve on the controls. I still can control a FPS better though using a PS3 or 360 controller.
Obviously most people disagree with me on the ratings, but thats just how I feel. I gave it a 5. IF I had actually bought this game I might try to get through it, but there are better games for me to play.
Ok, first of all, i'm a huge fan of the previous prime games, so i was a little worried that this one would take the focus of exploration. I was dead wrong. This is still very much a Metriod game. The controls may seem a little difficult at first, but with a little patience you'll be a pro in no time. Just make sure you turn the sensitivity all the way up. The only thing I didn't care for about this game was the beginning. It felt to much like a generic sci fi channel original movie. Other than that, this game is gold.
Finally the Wii has a game worth playing all the way through other than Zelda. The graphics are excellent combined with smooth gameplay. The controls are easy and ultilizes the motion sensors to perfection. Wii are ready for Gears of War and BioShock.
