Underrated IP Gets Better

The first Metro (Metro 2033) was an underrated and successful game. In the sequel, everything literally gets better with beautiful graphics and a great atmosphere.

GRAPHICS: Metro Last Light boasts some of the best lighting/shading for PC and still looks gorgeous on console. The artwork and environment, especially the city backdrops, look gorgeous. Some frame-issues when splashing in water, but not as bad as the first. 9/10

SOUND: The sound improves, especially with the howling of the mutants. The weapons sound much cleaner, and the voice acting is better. The music is about on par as the first, but that isn't a bad thing. 7/10

GAMEPLAY: The only annoyance I had was the tight sensitivity. Adjusting the sensitivity to the max may still not be efficient. Other than that, the gameplay was smooth and feels very natural. Even if you did not play 2033, you can pick this up and feel like a veteran. Also, the item selection is cleaner and more organized. 8/10

STORY: The story has potential, as did the first Metro, but it can often feel like it is jumping from one extreme to another. Maybe it's because it was developed by Eastern Europeans, whose story-telling is different than Westerners. 5/10

Overall, this is a must-rent game of 2013 considering the graphics and environment. It was also pleasing to experience a game where there were hardly any glitches. Another plus, but even the minor glitches don't take away from this being an extremely well-crafted first person shooter. I'd suggest the replay value is low, simply because once you beat the game, there is not much else to do (unless you plan on scoring all the achievements).
