I recently signed up for GF a few days ago, mainly interested in this title. I put it on the top of my queue but doubted getting it because of its "Very low" rent availabilty. But, it shipped the next day as my first rent(along with farcry3). Anyway, About the game.
Fans of the Fallout series will love this, I have never played metro 2033 but imagined I would like it due to loving Fallout and RAGE. It's basically RAGE without an open world with a much better story, although...less to do.
The gameplay. Very intriguing story that kept me waiting for the next event, although I did feel like...NPC's were always at the right place at the right time to help you out and kinda expected it. But still, story keeps you on the edge.
While playing through the mutant infested swamps and bad guy filled metros was always intense, and had me almost scared out on the surface. Inside the metros it just kinda felt like the same thing over and over...room full of bad guys, turn off all the lights and slowly kill them...but it was fun for the most part.
I probably spent around 12-15 hours on this game, and beat it in 2 days, and don't have much an interest to play it again for little replay value, which is why its a good title to rent...not buy.
Overall, I LOVED it, but it could get a bit repetive while having memorable characters and a intriguing storyline with solid fighting that can get tough finding ammo and tricky bosses, all the while managing the filters for your gas mask in toxic air. 8.8/10 RENT IT!
I wish the gameplay and graphics were better when it came to the monsters you're fighting, but overall this game delievered. Cool new weapons, with awesome new upgrades. Lots of interesting surprises and twists and hidden messages about the next Metro 2035 book coming out later this year.
This would be a superstar game if a U.S. company developed it, the story is so amazing, but the game is just missing a few things to make it great.
