Metro: Last Light's hardcore 'Ranger Mode' difficulty setting "provides the definitive Metro experience," according to publisher THQ's creative strategist Huw Beynon. Yet it won't be included in the base game, oh no, rather you'll need to pre-order or buy it early to ensure you get a 'Limited Edition' copy. How awfully creative. Spec Ops: The Line developer Yager recently raged against being forced to include multiplayer in its single-player-focused game, received with whoops and cheers by the peanut gallery. If only more games could go undiluted! Huzzah, then, that Metro: Last Light developer 4A Games has dropped plans for adding multiplayer to Metro 2033's sequel, choosing instead to focus its resources on the single-player campaign. Metro 2033 movie rights nabbed by MGM

Dmitry Glukhovsky's post-apocalyptic novel Metro 2033, which was introduced to most of us by 4A Games' pleasing video game adaptation, is headed to the silver screen. MGM has picked up the movie rights, and it's a fair bet that it'll follow the game's lead and be light on philosophy and politics but heavy on action, given Hollywood's penchant for the bombastic.
